Heading the banks legal department, the incumbent will manage and coach the legal team to proactively and professionally support all business lines of the Bank by providing a timely and high
level legal support and advice while ensuring all activities are compliant with relevant laws and regulatory requirements.
Job description/ key responsibilities:
- Lead the Bank legal department. Provide strong and continuous leadership, supervision, training and development of department staff ensuring an effective and motivated team
- Act as senior legal advisor for all legal aspects of the Bank in Switzerland and abroad
- Support relationship managers and management of the Bank in legal matters regarding the daily business of the Private Banking division
- Ensure a sound and up to date knowledge of laws and regulation in the banking industry in order to successfully combine our legal framework with our business needs and activities
- Review and ensure that all internal directives are kept up to date with applicable regulations, notably by serving as expert for the Regulatory Watch Committee
- Ensure that client onboarding documentation are in accordance with applicable regulations
- Manage all legal cases, claims and litigations and liaise with external legal advisors. Assist HR in efficient management of labour law litigations
- Maintain and review all legal agreements and contracts to be entered into by the Bank
- Support the legal needs of all entities of the group, including in the set-up of foreign
entities and/or Rep Offices and liaise and coordinate activities with her/his counterparts in other entities of the Group
Professional experience & competencies:
- 7-10 years of experience in a similar position in a private Bank including successful experience in people management and leadership
- Ability to combine technical expertise with a clear and persuasive communication style and the confidence and independence to make sound judgement calls
- Ability to work and experience in working in a complex matrix organization
- Strong report writing skills French and English
- Strong attention to detail and execution skills
- Proven track record of success in a similar role
- Practical, pragmatic, business oriented and hardworking
- Excellent client relationship management experience
- Actively manage the expectations of the different stakeholders
