Transactions Due Diligence Officer for a bank specialised in Commodity Trade Finance

Our client is a human-sized bank specialized in Corporate and Trade Finance and they are looking for a Transaction Due Diligence (TDD) Officer to reinforce the current team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough due diligence on corporate and trade finance transactions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. This role involves assessing the financial health and risk profile of clients, analyzing transaction structures, and providing recommendations to mitigate potential risks. Main tasks and responsibilities: Pre-Transaction Monitoring:
  • Analyzing and monitoring the transactions in relation to compliance with:
  • international sanctions and embargoes (SECO, EU, UK as well as OFAC sanctions) and also in line with the internal policies and procedures,
  • applicable laws, regulations, directives regarding anti-money laundering, terrorist financing, tax evasion and avoidance etc. (such as LBA, OBA-FINMA, CDB20 etc.)
  • instructions given by Compliance Department
in order to identify the red flags.
  • Upon such analysis, gathering a TDD assessment by also taking into account the KYC of the concerned customer re. the plausibility of the transaction and notify any red flags or unusual transactions to Compliance Department for further review.
  • Conducting ad-hoc screening for potential parties/vessels upon pre-check requests.
  • Closely monitoring the sanction and other regulations mentioned above to stay up-to-date.
Post-Transaction Monitoring:
  • Performing post-transaction monitoring in line with the Bank’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Providing assessments and mitigation and escalating red flags to the Compliance Department, if and when necessary, within the foreseen deadline.
CR and CM Duties (as a Back-Up): When needed, acting as back-up to the Central Registry (such as conducting signature verification and any operational tasks assigned to the CR on the Bank’s operational system) and Collateral Management units (such as liaising with the Legal Department for capacity checks of signatures on collateral agreements/documents and carrying out advised actions, collecting and entering the collateral agreements to the Bank’s operational system) for their daily tasks. Requirements:
  • Sound understanding of Corporate Banking & Trade Finance, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in AML/Compliance field, preferably in a financial sector;
  • Proficient in English and French a must, other languages a plus;
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields (professional certification in Compliance (ACAMS, ICA) is a plus);
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards in corporate and trade finance;
  • Ability to work in an autonomous and independent manner;
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and with time constraints;
  • Proficient usage of IT tools (Microsoft Office) as well as screening tools such as World Check, Llyod’s sea searcher database etc.
  • Swiss or valid work permit.
